Funny pics and fun events

such happy children

this was a conglomeration of costumes that Katya whipped up... she wore it for 4 hours

Congrats to Janet Frey for getting her masters as a nurse practitioner
Did I mention how happy are children are?

Jack loved to sit it in this stroller and watch Mickey Mouse Club House for a couple of days. He still loves MMCH, but dances more than sits while watching

These are miscellaneous pictures. We went to a fun graduation party for Janey Frey. I should have taken a picture of the front lawn that was covered in pink flamingos and had a sign that said "Honk for Janet, she graduated!". Tons of people were there including their families. It was good to see so many that I haven't seen since their wedding when Katya was a baby. Janet got her master's in nursing and takes the boards for her Nurse Practitioner license next month. There are some good dress up pictures of Katya (and Jessica!). We went over to the Perrys for Mother's Day and the girls were wearing their grandparents' sweater and pj pants to try to stay warm because it was an uncommonly cold day. We thought this picture of Jess was a classic and we'll be sure to save it for her future boyfriends. A few of the pics I took after church one day while the kids were being goofy with the stroller. There's also a picture of Jack trying my first attempt at homemade chocolate sauce, which he really enjoyed despite his expression in the picture. He really doesn't like being messy! There is a close up of Katya and me when we went out for our girl's night on the infamous night the boys went camping with the Father/Son camp-out at church. Katya and I had a great night using free coupons at chick-fil-A and the movie store. We watched The Waterhorse, which is a good movie, but a little scary. Scott did NOT have a good night as he got his mother-in-law's truck stuck in a very deep ditch and had to wait until 10:30 PM for the tow truck to finally come! I'm sure that was lots of fun on a back road in the dark. Sorry we don't have a picture of that.

Artsy

Katya has really been enjoying her drama class. She had a performance a few weeks ago for Horton Hears a Who and lots of family came so we got some good family pics. It was too dark in the theater to get good pictures, but Katya is the one with the green hair with her back to the audience. She will start Big River - about Huckleberry Finn - next week. She also previewed a ballet class that she wants to do in the fall. We're so blessed to live close to these opportunities. Also notice Jack in the background of the last picture. I don't think he would have minded the ballet class either - he loves to dance!

The Southland in the Springtime

That is my very favorite Indigo Girls' song - too bad they didn't sing it at the concert. Anyway, these are lots of different pictures of us this spring enjoying the beautiful weather here. There are a couple of pics of the kids when I took them hiking at Yahoola park downtown Dahlonega. We had a picnic at a pavilion they built in the woods on one of the trails. There is one picture of us at Rachel and Jessica's regional track meet. They both lettered in Track this year as freshmen! At least they'll actually get some use out of their letter jacket! There are some pictures of us hiking Blood Mtn with Adam and Janet. There's a picture of Katya getting ready with her new pack - she was very excited about that! She hiked the whole time, but on the way down, we had to take off her tennis shoes because they were too small and hurting her toes. So she hiked barefoot for a ways - what a girl! This Memorial Day, we hiked at Amicalola Falls, and she hiked over 4 miles by herself! Yesterday we went to Desoto Falls and she hiked another 2.5 miles! There are some pictures of the kids at the beach at Sandy Creek Park in Athens. We stopped there on the way back from seeing The Very Hungry Caterpillar - a puppet show based on 3 Eric Carle books. Papa went with us, and we had a great time! We picnicked and played in the water afterwards. There's a cute picture of Jack and Scott downtown at one of the many festivals we've been to lately - there's at least 2 each month on the square downtown. The one of Katya rock climbing was taken at a playground where we met the Mildenhalls to celebrate Mil's birthday and Mother's day. I looked up and couldn't believe Katya was at the top! There's even a picture of Katya in the pool by herself - without hanging on Mommy! At the young women's swimming party, I finally convinced her to get in with her floaty and swimmies. Hopefully she'll be taking swimming lessons this summer to help her with her fear. I forgot to mention I was called to work with the young women. It's challenging, but fun. I've always wanted to be in the Young Women's program. It's really hard when you don't have a clue though!

School days

Katya has been having fun in school - even though she says this school is "boring" sometimes. There are some pictures of circus day from last month that siblings got to come to. The last week of school they had fun days with pj/movie day, water day (which family could go to), wacky wednesday - notice the crazy pictures of her, favorite toy day, and favorite game day. Then they had a graduation where (I can't believe) they wore graduation gowns and got a certificate and sang some songs. It was fun and we got lots of good pictures because it was so beautiful outside. It was Katya's idea to have a funny faces picture with grandparents, and this is a classic.
