On the Mends

Katya has her stitches out and is still Dawg Wrastlin', taking down any precarious pooch that gives her the business. Jack is still walking like a professional and loves to give kisses and dance.

New and Good

I have recently tried to refrain myself from recommending music without the request from others, but there are circumstances that warrant such invasions of the personal realm of musical taste (i.e. the beachboys, radiohead, and to a much lesser extent new order). As the circumstances being such now, I recommend a quirky little group call "Beirut". They have a very mellow international quality; while those adjectives may not seem to coincide well together, I think they describe the music with a modest, nonplussed, albeit accurate, description. Despite my comma splices, please take a listen, and let me know what y'all think. I think it is appealing to everyone of all ages, maybe because of the prolific use of the ever-underrated accordion, but that's just my opinion.

Take a bite outta crime... or Katya

We had an eventful day yesterday. Katya accompanied Rebekah on a visiting trip to a family in our church. The said family has two miniature pugs. One is rather temperamental, this is the one that Katya likes to play with the most, of course. After being there for an hour or so, Rebekah was getting ready to leave, and while Katya was sitting on the couch, the temperamental one hopped on the couch and attempted to bite Katya's cheek off. Rebekah promptly took Katya to the emergency room while Scott stayed with Jack, and later went to a young men service project. After 3 hours, the were still not able to apply sutures to Katya's face, so Rebekah called Scott to come and be with them to help and give a blessing, as Katya would have to be anesthetized in order to apply them. Scott arrived, and within the hour they were able to get all 8 superficial stitches and two subcutaneous stitches in. Katya awoke after the procedure feeling "bizzy" (that's how she says dizzy), but calm. She had some supper on the way home, and was in bed by 11PM. She is doing quite well, though not quite as talkative as usual. She did choose to go to pre-school today though, so we are proud of her, and don't mind giving the extra snuggle time. Thought you'd all like to know. Hope you are all doing well.
